Romantic long drives with a beautiful partner, dreaming about beautiful moments without good music. Is this your type of romantic drive? We don’t think so. Add a dash of romance with love-oozing songs playing on your satellite radios. Satellite radios are the latest rage when it comes to car gadgets and if you thought it’s rocket science needed to install it then read on. There are some things you should know that will make it a breeze to install the satellite radio.
First step is to know the type of electrical connections that your vehicle uses. Besides, you need to know whether the vehicle supports wired or wireless connection. If the car comes with a pre-built FM transmitter then you simply make a wireless connection. Otherwise, you will need to connect the satellite radio to the car radio.
Open the package of the satellite radio. There will be a main unit, items used for mounting it, the magnet roof antenna, and finally the user manual. Go through the installation guide to make sure you have all the items required to install the satellite radio. Different models will come with a different set of items.
When you have all you need you can proceed with the installation.
· The very first decision is where on your vehicle you are going to mount the radio. The mount may be attached to the windshield using the provided suction cups. Or you can place it on the dashboard with the help of Velcro strips. In case, you intend to mount it on the dashboard then place it in the intended position and make sure it is free of all obstacles. Of course, it goes without saying that it should be within easy reach so you don't have to stretch across to make adjustments. Same goes for the windshield mounting, make sure nothing obstructs your view.
· Once it is mounted you need to attach the power adapter to the cigarette lighter in the car. The other end, naturally, goes into the satellite radio. Try and install it so that there is no extra wiring dangling where it might cause inconvenience.
· The last step is to install the antenna. Since the antenna is going to receive radio signals it needs to be mounted in a place that has minimal obstructions. The installation guide usually contains clear instructions on where to mount the antenna and what are the common obstructions to avoid for proper functioning. It will also contain instructions on how to use the cable connecting the antenna and the satellite radio. You will need to make some adjustments depending on the model of your vehicle and existing roof mountings if you have any.
Setting up the wireless connection
If your car comes with a FM transmitter, you can use that to setup a wireless connection. Though this means a lesser amount of wiring it also means that the quality of sound is going to suffer a bit. You will also need to change the default FM station for the radio to work in your area.
Setting up a direct connection
If you do not have the wireless option then you will be connecting using the car radio. If your car does not come equipped with this then you have to buy one. The connection from the radio will go into the AUX IN/LINE IN on the car radio and into the AUDIO OUT/LINE OUT on the radio unit.
That's it. You are all set to listen to your car satellite radio. Enjoy your drive while humming your favourite song!
